Hampton, Murphy Pace Niagara At National Catholic Invitational

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Niagara women's cross country team participated in the 37^th Annual National Catholic Invitational hosted by Notre Dame on Friday.

Meet Marks

Caroline Hampton and Kayla Murphy led the Purple Eagles once again, just like they did at the season-opening Little 3 Championships.
Hampton ran the 5000M in 19:48 for 66^th place with Murphy finishing two places later at a time of 19:52.6.
Megan Helf run a personal-best time of 20:36.7 and Julia Freemire ran the race in 20:42.3.

Coach's Corner

Our team definitely suffered from the heat, but I'm really happy with the measure of resilience they showed. The final time results aren't representative of our ability, but we managed a personal best from returner Megan Helf. She is running with a lot of confidence and has been a great pace-setter for the freshmen. A nice surprise was how well some of our freshmen stood up to the challenge; Julia Freemire, Matt Whitworth, and Ethan Graves really produced solid performances. We didn't anticipate having to rely on our rookies to contribute so quickly, but it turns out they're ready and are eager to do so. - Head coach Christine Kloiber
