Van Leeuwen Leads Men’s Cross Country At MAAC Championships

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – The Niagara men's cross country team competed at the 2016 MAAC Championships held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex on Saturday.

Meet Marks

Senior Tyler van Leeuwen paced NU in the 8K event with a time of 27:10.00 for 78th place.
Van Leeuwen has led the Purple Eagles in every meet this season.
A trio of freshmen followed: Ryan DeLola (27:32.13), Matt Whitworth (27.48.60) and Ethan Graves (27:51.58).
Sophomore Sergio Cruz (27:59.32) and freshman Aidan Russell (29:05.37) rounded out the scoring
As a team, Niagara placed 10th out of 11 teams with a time of 27:40.33.

MAAC Academic Honors

Jordan Bender, Sergio Cruz and Tyler van Leeuwen were named to the MAAC All-Academic Team.
To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must complete two semesters at their institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale.
