NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – The Niagara women's soccer team plays its final game of the season on Wednesday, Oct. 26 when it hosts Marist at 3:00 p.m.
On the Field: Niagara Purple Eagles (4-10-1, 3-6-0 MAAC)
- Laura Ortiz leads the Purple Eagles in goals with six, shots with 25 and shots on goal with 17.
- Eva Bachmann leads the team in assists with three.
- Bachmann and Hailey Bicknell each have two goals on the season.
- Goalkeeper Shangyne Samuels (3-3-0) has 25 saves and two shutouts. She has been named MAAC Defensive Player of the Year two times this season.
Last Time Out
- Niagara took on Iona on Saturday, Oct. 22. The Gaels defeated the Purple Eagles 2-1.
- The Gaels got on the board first, scoring in the 30th minute to give themselves a 1-0 lead.
- Niagara answered quickly. Bicknell scored her second goal of the season on a long shot which deflected off the goalkeeper's hands and went into the net to tie the score 1-1.
- Iona put the game away in the 80th minute, scoring the final goal of the match.
Last Meeting with Marist (9-7-1, 5-3-1 MAAC)
- Niagara and Marist last met on Oct. 28, 2015. The Red Foxes defeated the Purple Eagles, 1-0.
