Women's Soccer Heads To Iona For Final Road Trip Of Regular Season

NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – The Niagara women's soccer team heads to Iona for its final road game of the regular season. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m.

On the Field: Niagara Purple Eagles (4-9-1, 3-5-0 MAAC)

Senior Laura Ortiz leads the Purple Eagles with six goals, 25 total shots and 17 shots on goal.
Kori Thorne has recorded the second-most shots with 21.
Eva Bachmann has a team-high three assists and has also scored two goals.
Hailey Bicknell, Assia Sidhoum and Thorne each have one goal on the season so far.
Goalkeeper Shangyne Samuels (3-2-0) has 23 saves on the season so far and a career-high three shutouts. Samuels has been named MAAC Defensive Player of the Week two times this season.

Last Time Out

The Purple Eagles defeated Fairfield, 1-0, on Saturday, Oct. 15.
Ortiz scored the goal for Niagara in the 69^th minute. Bachmann passed her the ball and Ortiz split the defenders, scoring one on one with the keeper.
Prior to the start of the game, the Purple Eagles honored their six graduating seniors: Amanda Gallo, Ortiz, Emily Phillips, Shawnique and Shangyne Samuels and Thorne.

Last Meeting with Iona (1-13-2, 1-6-1 MAAC)

The Purple Eagles and the Gaels last met on Sept. 26, 2015. Niagara defeated Iona, 4-3.
Haillie Price had two goals for the Purple Eagles, and Phillips and Hayley Besaw had one goal each.
