NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – Niagara women’s basketball head coach Kendra Faustin has announced the addition of Kyle Hejmowski to the coaching staff.
“We are elated to add Kyle to our staff,” Faustin said. “He brings unique recruiting experiences and knowledge along with a tremendous work ethic. I am certain that Kyle will be a great resource for our student-athletes, staff, athletic department and Niagara University.”
Hejmowski spent the past five seasons as a member of the Robert Morris University women's basketball coaching staff where he helped the Colonials to two postseason tournament appearances (WNIT 2010, WBI 2012).
While at RMU, he implemented scouting tools to the team's game planning and assisted in the team's international recruiting efforts in addition to on-court skill instruction. Hejmowski also provided advance scouting reports on all of the Colonials future opponents.
"It is extremely exciting to be a part of Coach Faustin's staff here at Niagara,” Hejmowski said. “This is a great opportunity to be back home in Western NY and help continue the tradition of outstanding basketball at NU. After much success at Robert Morris for the last five years under Head Coach Sal Buscaglia, I look forward to this new challenge and being part of a mid-major program that is on the rise. Prior to joining the Colonials staff, Hejmowski was an assistant coach of the men's basketball team at Clarkson University in Potsdam, N.Y. In one season there, he helped guide the Golden Knights to the Liberty League Tournament title and the school's first appearance in the NCAA Tournament. A member of the Liberty League's Coaching Staff of the Year, Hejmowski served as the team's recruiting coordinator, assisted opponent scouting and provided on-court instruction during practices and games.
During the 2006-07 season, Hejmowski as an assistant men's basketball coach at D'Youville College in Buffalo, N.Y. He developed a film exchange program while there to assist in scouting future opponents. Hejmowski assisted in the team's recruiting efforts while helping in player development.
Hejmowski has worked as an instructor at several camps including the Canisius College Boys and Girls Basketball Camps, the Medaille College Boys Basketball Camp, the Hilbert College Boys Basketball Camp, the Clarkson Boys and Girls Basketball camp and the University of Michigan Boys Basketball Camp.
While an undergraduate at Canisius College, Hejmowski served as a team manager for the men's basektball team for three seasons. He was also a four-year member of the Golden Griffins tennis team, serving as a captain during his senior season. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology from Canisius in 2003. Hejmowski also earned a masters degree in education from Medaille College in the spring of 2007.
