Noonan Grabs AHA Weekly Honors

HAVERHILL, Mass. - After a stellar weekend between the pipes, senior netminder Chris Noonan of the Niagara men's hockey team earned Atlantic Hockey Association (AHA) Goalie of the Week honors. 

Noonan helped the Purple Eagles clinch a first-round bye in the 2012 AHA Tournament, earning the No. 2 seed heading into the the playoffs.  The Portage, Mich. native finished the weekend with a 1.44 goals-against average and a .961 save percentage, going 1-0-1 against the RIT Tigers.

Noonan made 22 of 23 saves for a 4-1 win on Friday, while stopping 51 of 53 shots on Saturday to preserve a 2-2 tie. After Saturday night's action, Noonan was fourth in the nation with a 1.70 GAA and tops in the nation with a .941 save percentage, while also 12th in the nation with a .659 winning percentage.


Noonan and the Purple Eagles are back on the ice March 9-11 when they host the quarterfinal round at Dwyer Arena.
