SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Niagara women's golf team won its first-ever dual match on Sunday afternoon, defeating Albany at Drumlins Golf Course by a 346-349 margin. Niagara's 346 stroke total is a career team-low for the Purple Eagles.
Natalie Wisiewski led the Purple Eagles by shooting a team-low 82 in her first round of golf as a Purple Eagle. Following Wisiewski was freshman April Nimjareansuk with an 84 on the day, while Brittany Siechen shot an 88, Sierra Billhimer shot a 92, Alexandra Novak shot a 98 and Kelly Muszak finished with a score of 100 on the day.
"To win a head-to-head match after two years of getting the program going feels great," head coach Steve Latimer said. "The new players have improved the team dramatically. The future looks very bright."
Niagara is back in action on Saturday, Sept. 17, as the Purple Eagles take part in the 2011 Dartmouth Invite.
