NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – For the fourth consecutive year, the men’s and women’s tennis teams took time out of their schedules to bring holiday cheer early to those less fortunate.
On Saturday, Nov. 5 the St. George Catholic Church Soup Kitchen in Niagara Falls, N.Y. and program coordinator Joanne Lorenzo, welcomed the help of the Niagara student athletes, who volunteered to help prepare a warm meal for those in attendance.
"Within our programs we spend a lot of time talking about helping others, especially those who may be less fortunate," said head coach Anthony Nguyen. "Having the opportunity to volunteer at the soup kitchen at St. Georges catholic church the last four years has been life changing for our players. We feel lucky to have had the chance to get out in our community and volunteer our time for such a worthy cause."
The student-athletes who participated also put together and decorated a Christmas tree, as well as organized and seperated winter coats being handed out to those in need.
