AMHERST, N.Y. - The Niagara men's and women's cross country teams competed at the 2011 NCAA Northeast Regionals on Saturday afternoon at the Audubon Golf Course, hosted by the Buffalo Bulls. The men's team finished in 32nd place, while the women's team finished in 33rd place.
The men's team finished in 32nd place out of 33 teams with 971 points, ahead of St. Bonaventure (1,052 points) and just 15 points behind Quinnipiac. Sophomore
Vincent Donner was Niagara's top finisher in 177th place overall out of 240 runners , covering the 10k course in a time of 34:56.3. Behind Donner was sophomore
Sam Reedy in 185th place (35:11.6) and freshman
Nick Orlowski in 213th place (36:15.1).
Syracuse (54 points) took the men's team title, with Iona, Columbia, Providence and Brown rounding out the top-five. The men's individual crown was claimed by Iona's Leonard Korir, in a time of 31:10.4.
The women's team finished in 33rd place out of 36 teams with 983 points, ahead of Manhattan (1,003 points), Siena (1,070) and St. Bonaventure (1,104 points). Sophomore
Kim Vona led Niagara once again, finishing the 6k course in a time of 23:16, taking 121st place out of 243 runners overall. Behind Vona was sophomore
Stephanie Schmidt in 197th place (24:37) and junior
Lindsey Phillips in 204th place (24:46).
Syracuse (116 points) took the women's team title, with Boston College, Cornell, Columbia and Providence rounding out the top-five. The women's individual title was won by Dartmouth's Abby D'Agostino in a time of 20:25.
