Hickingbottom Highlights Purple Eagle All-MAAC Awards Haul

Six Purple Eagles Earn All-MAAC Honors, Hickingbottom Named Co-Pitcher of the Year

EDISON, NJ – Niagara lands six Purple Eagles on All-MAAC Teams, highlighted by MAAC Co-Pitcher of the Year, Maddie Hickingbottom, the league office announced Tuesday morning via social media.
 
Hickingbottom, Shayna Myshrall, Brianna Delaney, and Lindsay Mayo were each named to the All-MAAC Second Team while Delaney, Natasha Limbani join unanimous selection Selah Moyer on the MAAC All-Rookie Team.
 
Hickingbottom has had a stellar final season on Monteagle Ridge, becoming just the second Purple Eagle in program history (Jenn Sansano – 2013) to earn MAAC Pitcher of the Year recognition. Hickingbottom has pitched to a 3.05 ERA, including a 2.66 ERA in league play, while striking out 165 batters and tying the single-season mark for wins with 15. Her wins, strikeouts and ERA are all career-bests. She recorded a season-high 11 strikeouts in a win a complete-game win over Siena on April 23 and again in 6.0 innings against St. Bonaventure.
 
Myshrall was selected as the designated player to the All-MAAC Second Team, her first All-MAAC selection of her career. The right-handed power bat was tied for the team lead in home runs with seven, while driving in 27. She finished the season with 30 hits, five doubles, and 16 runs scored. On March 16 at UMBC she matched the program single-game record with six RBI, going 3-for-4 at the plate with two home runs. She recorded two multi-homer games and nine multi-hit contests.
 
Delaney earned a spot on the All-MAAC Second Team and All-Rookie squad after posting a .313 average with 41 hits in 131 at-bats. Her seven home runs on the season are tied for the team lead and are third-most by a freshman in program history. She leads the team with 29 RBI, is second on the team with 11 doubles and 30 runs scored. The Lockport, N.Y., native recorded four hits, including three doubles in Niagara's win over Le Moyne on April 7.
 
Mayo earns a spot on the All-MAAC Second Team for the second consecutive season. Mayo played in 45 of the teams 46 games, reaching base safely in 38 of those 45 games while leading the team with a .360 batting average and 12 doubles. The lefty swinging outfielder hit two home runs and drove in 19 runs, while leading the team with 50 hits and 35 runs scored. Mayo recorded 16 multi-hit games, including two games with a season-high three hits.
 
Moyer was one of four unanimous selections on the MAAC All-Rookie Team after posting a .333 (38-for-114) average, second only to Mayo on the team. She recorded nine doubles, two home runs and 20 RBI. The Tiffin, Ohio, native recorded three games with three hits and five games with two. She had six games with two RBI.
 
Limbani was also selected to the All-Rookie Team. The Canadian short stop played and started all but one game during the 2024 regular season, posting a .324 average with 46 hits, second most on the team. Limbani had five extra base hits, including three doubles and two triples. She registered 15 RBI and scored 21 runs. In league play she hit .319 with 23 hits in 72 at-bats.
 
Niagara finished the regular season 27-19 overall and 16-7 in MAAC play earning the two-seed in the MAAC Softball Championship, its highest seeding since 2008. The teams 27 wins are the most since 2008 while its 16 league wins is a program record.
 
The Purple Eagles will take on the winner of No. 3 Rider and No. 6 Siena on Thursday, May 9 at 11 a.m. in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
