EDISON, NJ – Niagara's
Samantha Hare (First Team) and
Lindsay Mayo (Second Team) have earned All-MAAC honors, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) announced Tuesday at noon.
Hare, an All-MAAC First Team selection, finished the 2023 season with a .291 average, going 39-for-134 with seven doubles, and a home run. Her 19 RBI on the season led the Purple Eagles. In conference play, Hare batted .400 with 26 hits in 65 at bats, including six doubles and nine RBI. The junior was nearly perfect in the field, recording just one error in 43 chances, with two outfield assists.
In her first season on Monteagle Ridge, Mayo was one of Niagara's most consistent batters, earning herself a spot on the second team. Mayo finished the season with a .288 average, 32 hits, 20 runs, 12 RBI, nine doubles, one triple, and a pair of home runs, while leading the Purple and White with seven stolen bases. In conference action, Mayo recorded 15 hits with five doubles and six RBI.
Hare and Mayo become the first Purple Eagles to earn postseason honors since
Heather Haberman '22 and
Maggie Kellner received all-conference honors in 2021.
The Purple and White finished the season with a 9-34 overall record and 3-17 conference mark.
The 2023 MAAC Softball Championship will be hosted by Canisius Wednesday, May 10 through Saturday, May 13, at the Demske Sports Complex in downtown Buffalo.
